Immunogen: Synthetic peptide (KLH-coupled) corresponding to residues surrounding Ala1083 of human SHIP2
SHIP1 (SH2-containing inositol phosphatase) is a member of the inositol polyphosphate-5- phosphatase (INPP5) family and contains an N-terminal SH2 domain, an inositol phosphatase domain, and two C-terminal protein interaction domains. SHIP2, a homolog of SHIP1, is highly expressed in heart, skeletal muscle and placenta . SHIP2 negatively regulates insulin signaling and polymorphisms in SHIP2 have been linked to hyperglycemia. Recent studies also suggest SHIP2 as a therapeutic target for the treatment of both obesity and type 2 diabetes.
Over expression of SHP-2 leads to Juvenile Myelo-monocytic Leukemia and Noonan syndrome.
